On Alert

I have a complicated relationship with the deer who live in the woods near my home. On the one hand, they’re beautiful. On the other, they destroy my flowers. My husband reminds me that they were here first. He’s right of course. And when the does bring their fawns to the yard early in the summer, I’m always captivated by their elegant beauty. I guess my flowers are a small price to pay to live in their company.
